Some exciting things in the works for Century of Steam: enjoy a preview of our Mason Machine Works "Double Truck" locomotives, colloquially known as Mason Bogies, and a first look at the quaking aspens & silver-rich peaks of San Juan, the ultimate arena for mountain railroading!
These pristine pieces of mechanical artistry were recreated from original Mason erecting drawings, and while many know them for their service on the Union Pacific NG system, with the options available you can enjoy a Mason of many flavors from North Pacific Coast to Peach Bottom!
And rest assured, in keeping with historical practice and the photographic record, you will not find a Ridgway spark arrestor on any of these engines 😉 The last C&S bogie was donated in 1902 to Ames College, IA, where it retained its UP diamond stack until it was scrapped in 1942.
